Timeless Jewelry Collection Mixes Old World Influences With a Modern Flair By Keren Peled Jewelry

San Francisco, CA, Oct 1, 2005 – Keren Peled jewellery is excited to announce the launch of its first collection of romantic and elegant jewellery .  The collection features sterling silver and semi precious stones necklaces, bracelets, earrings and charming hair accessories all using the knotting technique of Macramé.  The Macrame jewellery pieces of sculpted wire are intricately woven, as each piece is handcrafted.

“I have always been fascinated by the ancient Egyptian jewellery of the pharaohs,” says Keren Peled, the founder and designer “ my designs are greatly inspired by their jewellery art, large yet not bulky, and extremely intricate.  I have traveled through Central America and Europe looking for more patterns and different techniques that I can use in my work. The results are in my first collection”

Peled  began receiving attention in October of 2003, when one of her pieces was selected to be displayed at the annual National Art Exhibit, at Artisans gallery  in Mill Valley, CA. The Exhibit was juried by Marian Parmenter, Executive Director and Founder of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - Artists’ Gallery.  Peled was the only jeweler to be accepted to this prestigious exhibit, and according to the art director, Lisah Horner, the first jeweler to be accepted in 20 years. Peled continued to exhibit her work during 2004 at national and international exhibits in New York, Chicago and San Francisco Bay Area.   In August of 2004 Peled received a merit award for her piece “Cleopatra’s Mithreal” at the “Beauty of Women” Exhibit at Artisans gallery in Mill Valley.

Her summer line features her designs in different colorful combinations of Peridot, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Citrine, Rose Quartz, Turquoise and others.  Some describe it as bold and funky, yet delicate and feminine.

Peled started Keren Peled jewellery after friends and family saw her unique work and recognized her potential.   She left her corporate job, and went traveling to Central America.  Inspired by the colors and the crafts of Guatemalan markets, Peled came back to the US with renewed creative energy. “ Starting the company felt like going back home. When I worked in the corporate world for several years, I was away from my art. Traveling gave me a new boost of courage and inspiration

The Collection is available at shops and galleries such as Studio 333 in Sausalito, Shamwari in Oakland, Various and Sundries in San Anselmo, La Bussola in Reno and the Aesthetic Eye in Chicago.

In San Francisco, Keren Peled jewellery has exhibited at the San Francisco International gift show in February 2005, and will be exhibiting at the San Francisco fashion Market, June 18-21, 2005, Concourse Exhibition Center, San Francisco, represented by Cara Iverson.
